Privacy Notice

This notice explains how I, Mathew Kirk trading as MK Maths, use personal information when somebody contacts me about tuition or becomes a client. Questions about this notice can be sent to mathew@mkmaths.uk.

Information I collect

The enquiry form asks for the enquirer’s name and email address, the student’s year group and tuition level, an examination board or target school where relevant, and a short description of the support and availability required. Please do not include medical information or other sensitive personal information in the form.

How I use it

I use enquiry information only to respond, assess whether I can provide suitable tuition, arrange lessons and prepare appropriately. If tuition proceeds, I may also use the information needed to manage lessons, communicate with the parent or student, issue payment requests and maintain necessary business records. I do not use enquiry details for marketing and I do not make automated decisions about applicants.

Lawful basis

I process information needed to answer tuition enquiries and arrange lessons because it is necessary to take steps at the enquirer’s request before entering into a contract, and subsequently to provide the agreed service. I may retain limited correspondence and security information where necessary for my legitimate interests in administering and protecting the business, while taking particular care where information relates to a child. Records required by law are processed to meet the relevant legal obligation.

Services that process information

The website uses Formspree to receive form submissions and Google Workspace to manage email, files, calendars and online meetings. These providers process information on my behalf and may process it outside the United Kingdom using their applicable data-transfer safeguards. Cloudflare delivers and protects the website and may process technical request information such as IP addresses for security and performance.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to tuition are normally deleted within 12 months. Information used for an active tuition arrangement is kept while it is needed to provide the service. Essential financial and transaction records may be retained for longer where required for tax, accounting or legal purposes. Information is deleted earlier when it is no longer reasonably needed.

Who receives it

I do not sell personal information. It is shared only with the service providers needed to operate the website and tuition service, or where disclosure is required by law. A parent or guardian should normally make enquiries for younger students. Student information will not be shared with a school or another third party without an appropriate reason and authority.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, transfer, or to object to particular uses. To make a request, email mathew@mkmaths.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will remain available on this page.
